ISO 45001 & ISO 14001: Integrated Management Systems & Internal Auditor Training 

Health and Safety Management Systems ISO 45001 and Environmental Safety Management Systems ISO 14001 

WHAT WILL I LEARN?

  • Participants in the course will learn in detail about all requirements of the international standards ISO 45001:2018 "Health and safety management systems" and ISO 14001:2015 "Environmental management systems".

  • Participants will learn about key elements of these management systems, get to know best practices required to implement the systems and become aware of benefits and downsides of integrated management systems. 

  • Participants will acquire skills in conducting internal audit of a management system in compliance with the international standard ISO 19011:2018 "Guidelines for auditing management systems".

The course is intended for specialists in health, safety and environment, for managers at all organizational levels, for internal auditors of health, safety and environment management systems and for all those who are responsible for the development and implementation of an organization’s health, safety and environment management system.

Module 1: Introduction to Management Systems

Module 2: The Context of the Organization

  • Understanding the context of the organization and its key components

  • Defining the scope of the Management System

  • Identifying and managing the processes within the Management System

Module 3: Leadership and Worker Participation

  • How top management demonstrates leadership and commitment to HSE

  • The role of H&S and environmental policies within Management Systems

  • Assigning and communicating organizational roles, responsibilities, and authorities

  • The importance of worker consultation, including key topics for discussion

Module 4: Planning – Risks, Opportunities, and Objectives

  • Risk management terminology and process overview

  • Identifying hazards and assessing risks in Health & Safety

  • Identifying environmental aspects, assessing their impacts, and determining significance

  • Determining opportunities and legal requirements, and planning actions to address risks and opportunities

  • Setting HSE objectives and planning to achieve them

Module 5: Support

  • Resources required by ISO standards

  • Competence and awareness requirements

  • Communication requirements and types of communication

  • Documented information: requirements and best practices

Module 6: Operation

  • Operational planning and control

  • Eliminating hazards and reducing risks

  • Managing organizational change

  • Procurement: contractors and outsourcing

  • Emergency preparedness and response

Module 7: Performance Evaluation

  • Monitoring, measurement, analysis, and performance evaluation

  • Internal auditing principles and processes

  • Management review: purpose and key requirements

Module 8: Improvement

  • Managing incidents, nonconformities, and corrective actions

  • Strategies for continual improvement

Module 9: Internal Auditor

  • The role of audits in driving improvement and adding value

  • Key audit principles and methodologies

  • Conducting an effective audit: planning, execution, and reporting

  • Competency requirements for auditors

HOW LONG IS THE COURSE AND WHAT IS THE FORMAT?

16 hours 

The course is available as

  • an online course in our Learning Management System with unlimited instructor support (16 hours, up to 1 month of online course access)

  • face-to-face instructor-led course (3 days) at any location in Canada or the USA for a group of 8-20 participants

  • live webinar course in ZOOM or MS Teams (four 3-hour webinars) for a group of 8-20 participants

IS IT PRACTICAL? IS IT FUN?

The course is interactive, and it is based on the interaction between an instructor and participants. The program is designed as a workshop (a lecture, group work with analysis of business cases). To illustrate the learning materials, an instructor uses a variety of examples from international companies’ practices of building HSE management systems. 

CERTIFICATE

​Upon successful completion of the course, participants will be issued a certificate of completion.
