NEBOSH EMC TRAINING PROGRAM - WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

The NEBOSH Environmental Management Certificate is a globally relevant qualification designed to equip learners with the foundation knowledge required to contribute to the effective management of environmental aspects and the implementation of robust Environmental Management Systems.

 

The course content enables learners to develop the skills and knowledge required to:

  • Justify the importance of environmental management in the workplace.

  • Recognise organisational activities subject to environmental legislation.

  • Assess environmental aspects and impacts and support emergency planning.

  • Understand the importance of reducing environmental harm.

  • Build knowledge about waste management, energy efficiency, and the pros and cons of various energy sources.

Learners can help their organizations improve environmental performance, work within an Environmental Management System and support decision-making with ethical, legal, and financial arguments. They are also able to understand the links between organizational activities and broader environmental issues.

 The syllabus takes a risk management approach, based around best practice and industry standards, including:

  1. Foundations in environmental management

  2. Environmental management systems

  3. Assessing environmental aspects and impacts

  4. Planning for and dealing with environmental emergencies

  5. Controls of emissions to air

  6. Control of environmental noise

  7. Control of contamination of water sources

  8. Control of waste and land use

  9. Sources and use of energy and energy efficiency

This qualification is for anyone who needs to gain a sound understanding of the principles of environmental management and is relevant for Canada and international markets.

EXAMINATIONS

The assessments is broken down into two exams:

Unit EMC1: Environmental Management

Students will be required to review a real-life scenario and answer theoretical and practical questions on environmental management. This examination is be downloaded, completed, and submitted in 24 hours.

Unit EMC2: Assessing environmental aspects and associated impacts

This is a practical exam. Students need to assess environmental aspects and impacts in their chosen workplace.

INTERNATIONAL CERTIFICATE

All results for assessments should be received within 50 working days from the date of the examination or submission of the practical assessment. Once a learner has achieved a Pass in both units and the qualification grade has been declared, a qualification parchment will be issued, usually within 40 working days of the result declaration date

COURSE PRE-REQUISITES

There are no pre-requisite requirements for this qualification. No prior knowledge of environmental management is needed. For non-native speakers it is important to have a suitable standard of the English language in order to understand and articulate the concepts contained in the syllabus.
